Car history: |
This one is restored to a condition that I would consider a clean driver. It is clean, but not showroom flawless. This is a matching number car and that makes a HUGE difference to some. That means that the engine in the car is the one that came with the car from the factory. The paint is bright, the body clean and the interior is nice. The exterior of this Corvette is very nice. It is a clean restoration and therefore, it may have slight imperfections that any restoration would have. There is ABSOLUTELTY no major issues with the car's body. It is a highly glossed bright red accented by all of the correct, original emblems. There is no damage anywhere on the entire car. The paint is clean and the emblems great. There is no evidence of ever having previous damage. The only issue, and it is minor, that I saw was the paint in a couple of corners was touched up. These were spots no bigger than a width of a pencil lead and in spots that cannot be seen easily. This is VERY, VERY minor and does not detract from the car. Most people would not even see it. The chrome is all in good condition. The chrome bumpers are perfect! The car also has new rubber seals throughout. The door and hood jambs are in nice shape. It has a stock 350 small block motor with matching numbers. The frame is clean and has no leak. The car has the correct Corvette wheels with matching center caps and BF Goodrich Radial TA white letter tires, both of which give it a great look. The headlights go up and down but not by the headlight switch. You have to pull out the bulb change switch to get them up. There are NO stress cracks in the body, the body lines are even, the doors open well and do not drop, the tops do not leak, and the paint is super-shiney. In all, the car has an excellent appearance. On to the interior. The interior is black and accents the red paint nicely. The carpet is original style but appears new. It appears that the seats have been redone sometime in the past as they are very nice, as is the dash and even the carpet in the rear cargo area. The console has a sunken area on top from where elbows rest on it getting in and out of the car. The door panels appear brand new. It has the original steering wheel and original radio. I cannot get the radio to come on and it may not be connected but it is there. I do want to say that the seats are exceptionally comfortable. Firm but soft and easy to enjoy. All of the gauges works. It has tilt steering and is automatic. Power windows work well. The car has factory AC but the compressor does not have a belt on it. It does appear to be the original compressor and I know that also matters to some folks. The car also has two sets of T-tops! There is the painted set that is shown in the photos and a tinted glass (plastic) set that is stored in the cargo area. Now we all should know that they did not make glass tops for a 1969 so the glass tops are aftermarket. They are tinted and have some scratches on them but cool none the less. The car does have its original leather t-top bags with it. And now for the mechanics. It is the original numbers matching 350 small block engine! It is connected to a 350 turbo automatic transmission. I have to assume that somewhere in the past, they have been rebuilt due to age but I cannot verify that. They both work well. The engine runs cool, has great oil pressure and no internal noise. The trans shifts well and grabs as it should. It shifts extremely well with no slipping. This car has only 24,900 miles showing but I highly doubt that this is actual. I could be wrong but I don't want to mislead anyone. I have to add that this car drives nicely. It has all the normal rattles that ALL older Corvettes have but nothing abnormal. It is smooth, quick and responsive. It is better than most vintage Corvettes of the same years that I have driven in the past. The engine runs great and of course there are no leak or problem of any kind. 24,867 miles from the odometer. August 26, 2009. |
